You Can Know God's Will

We know it’s the last days, and personally, I don’t want to be caught on the sidelines. I want to be in the spiritual game of life! I want to be found helping God as He unfolds His mighty plan on the earth. I want to be found right in the middle of His perfect will for my life!

Don’t you? Do you ever wonder what is God’s will for your life? It is certainly the season and time to know it and never wonder about it again. Knowing God’s will is actually very attainable—and I want you to understand how easy it is to know. I don’t want you to miss out on being in the middle of all He is doing in the earth today!

In Romans 12, Paul describes a transformation that leads us to knowing God’s will in every situation in our lives:

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will (or as another translation says: His good, acceptable and perfect will).”

In this passage, Paul is giving us two prerequisites to knowing God’s plan for our lives:
· Physical Discipline…to offer your body, your physical desires, cravings and passions as a spiritual act of worship.
· Mental Discipline…to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, something only you can do.

So, first, we are to discipline ourselves physically, and Paul says that when we do that, we’ll discover God’s good, acceptable and eventually perfect plan for our lives.

Then, He says we are not to be conformed to this world—which is taking the path of least resistance. We have to determine that we will not conform to the world’s thinking which is how this world mentally approaches life, its value system and its moral standards. Instead, we are to be transformed by the process of mind renewal.

Without a renewed mind, it is virtually
impossible to recognize God’s will.

I want you to get this revelation. I don’t want you to miss out on God’s plan for your life. You won’t get your mind renewed by being in a “good church.” Your mind gets renewed when you go to church, or watch Christian television teaching, or listen to cds while releasing your faith:

“I’m being transformed tonight. I’m not conforming to the thoughts and words I’ve heard all week. I’ve got my Bible, pen and notebook. I’m ready, Lord! Let the transformation begin!”

God loves this kind of believer and behavior! He can respond to you when you set your faith like this! He wants you to commit to a disciplined mind!

The failure to commit to a disciplined mind produces an experience that leads to always looking for an external guidance…like a prophecy, a word of knowledge or wisdom, or a vision or dream.

Those things should be confirmations of what you already know from having a disciplined mind—not be what determines your path.

When you live according to external guidance you are bypassing the discipline of obedience. God wants you committed to the transformation process of disciplining your mind. If you don’t renew your mind, your thoughts will wander…

· Is that the will of God for me?
· I think I need a prophecy…
· Is that a sign?
Maybe God is trying to show me something…

When your mind wanders like this, your life becomes unstable. Your emotions become unstable, and your walk will be shallow. Your foundation for all decision-making will be shaky. Your growth will be intermittent instead of steady.

God doesn’t want that for you! Paul was warning you not to live that way. Missy and I are warning you. We want the best for you.

When you have a transformed mind, then you are able to live by an internal software program God has downloaded into your life. With this internal software, YOU CAN KNOW INSTINCTIVELY WHAT IS THE WILL OF GOD EVERY TIME!

The plan of God is for living and enjoying—
not for analyzing and searching!

You can’t enjoy the will of God if you are always trying to find it. You shouldn’t spend your life in search of the will of God. You should be living in the will of God. The will of God is a…
· Walk
· Journey
· Fun and enjoyable adventure
· Path that is life-giving

The Christian life isn’t supposed to be a series of starts and stops, a drag, challenged with whiplash, or feel intense. Sure, the new believer, who hasn’t gotten to know God and His ways over time, will need some external guidance. But you, my friend, as a mature believer, are to renew your mind and be sure of your decisions. I want you to understand this.

Knowing the will of God has less to do with doing the right thing, and more to do with being the right person.

When God promised His people in Deuteronomy 28 they would be blessed, He said, “You’ll be blessed in the country. You’ll be blessed in the city.”

So the blessing has nothing to do with where you are, and everything to do with who you are.

You’re blessed in the city BECAUSE YOU’RE THERE.

You’re blessed in the country BECAUSE YOU’RE THERE.

God’s blessings aren’t attached to things. They are attached to people. So that revelation delivers us from “Should I?” or “Shouldn’t I?” It sets us free to understanding that God is saying: “You choose! And I’ll bless you!” The blessing is on you! A renewed mind teaches you this…and in it you’ll find His good, acceptable and perfect will.

Will you be blessed if you take this job—or that one? You’ll be blessed at either because the blessing is on you! Not the job!

I don’t want you to put your life on hold waiting on a prophecy or word. Be confident that you are blessed everywhere you go! God is working it all out according to His timing.
